Estudo: Rios e Barragens da Bacia do Mediterrâneo

Este estudo provém de uma parceria entre o GEOTA, EuroNatur, RiverWatch, WWF Adria, Wetlands International Europe e produzido pela FLUVIUS (Floodplain Ecology and River Basin Management).

Constitui o primeiro esforço de fornecer uma visão geral e abrangente das barragens hidroelétricas e dos rios, numa escala alargada, na bacia do Mediterrâneo, através de uma metodologia baseada em critérios europeus. O estudo analisa e classifica a integridade hidromorfológica dos principais rios e inclui os resultados dos dados sobre áreas protegidas e principais áreas de biodiversidade, de acordo com os padrões da IUCN.

O extenso trabalho preparatório e a experiência do projeto “Balkan – Blue Heart of Europe”, iniciado pela RiverWatch e EuroNatur em 2012, aumentaram a abrangência deste inventário.

This study comes from a partnership between GEOTA, EuroNatur, RiverWatch, WWF Adria, Wetlands International Europe and produced by FLUVIUS (Floodplain Ecology and River Basin Management).

This study is the first comprehensive attempt to provide a large-scale overview of hydropower plants and rivers in the extended Mediterranean basin using a methodology based on European standards. The study analyses and ranks the hydromorphological intactness of main rivers and integrates the results with data on protected areas and key biodiversity areas according to IUCN.

The extensive preparatory work and experience of the Balkan – Blue Heart of Europe project initiated by RiverWatch and EuroNatur since 2012, increased the comprehensiveness of this inventory.
